Poppy Fields

Every spring, Richardson has wildflowers all over the city in celebration of the Wildflower Festival. Driving around the city, you'll see clusters of these flowers on medians, fields, etc. I LOVE it. It just makes me so happy to drive around and see all the flowers. One of my favorite flowers this year that was in abundance in a nearby field, is the red poppy. When I noticed the huge field behind our library this year, I ran back home real quick, calmed myself down from my over-excitement, and marched right back over there with my trusty camera.

Chocolate Bunnies & Jesus

At times it seems funny to me that Jesus and chocolate bunnies would be associated with the same holiday...but I have to admit...it might be appropriate because they both are so so good. That's right, chocolate is almost as good as Jesus. Almost. ;-)

Last weekend my hubby and I spent the weekend with my family and got to experience our nephew Bennett's first Easter with him. Here are a few highlights from the weekend:

This is Benny's smile that he gives when you ask him to smile. This was a definite highlight to see it in person finally....and  to capture it on camera! After I had taken some shots of him and put the camera on the table...he kept on pointing to my camera and doing his "smile" for me. Hint hint. ADORABLE!

My next highlight was getting to completely relax and hang out with family...and even got to spend a late night with a really good friend talking for hours and watching a movie (what we do best)! (Above: Benny is showing you here how to relax, while doing his serious model pose.)

Another highlight was witnessing Bennett's very first Easter egg hunt! I'm not gonna lie, part of me wished I was participating in the hunt! Maybe next year ;-) He loved it and got the concept quite well, especially after Uncle Ry had trained him over the weekend to know that good things like marshmallows, cookies, and cheese puffs come in plastic eggs. (Above: Bennett enjoys blowing bubbles with Nonnie and opening the eggs in his basket. He is happy despite the facial expression in the bubble pic. ha!)

Okay, do I really need to say why this was a highlight for me? My mom and sister made these amazing desserts...yum. We all know I LOVE sweets....and now the gym will be seeing a lot of me this week because of it! It was worth every bite.

Lastly, but certainly not least....a highlight was being reminded that I serve a God who died and rose again for us all....who took my sin upon himself so that I can be in restored relationship with God...forgiven. Having learned this about Jesus when I was a wee one, it's easy for Easter to come and go without really letting the weight of this truth set in. Such a good reminder and much to contemplate on. I am blessed!

Farmer's Market

Recently, I went with Claire to the Dallas Farmer's Market to shoot the fresh produce there. So fun...so many bright colors and cool textures there! Claire was even sweet enough to let me practice with her camera for some of my shots. The pics with her logo in the corner were shots I took using her awesome camera. By the way, Claire is a very talented photographer who is being so kind to let me study under her right now. Check out her work at: www.clairemccormack.com.
